Donny Earl Wilborn 76 of Sherman, TX went to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully in his sleep in the early hours on Wednesday morning, October 14, 2026, at Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center in Sherman with his daughter Jennifer by his side. He was blessed to spend his final days surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born May 14, 1950, in Olney, TX to Don Everett Wilborn and Pearlene (Kemp) Wilborn. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon Westbrook. Together they shared 3 daughters and have remained close friends until he passed. He later married the love of his life Patricia Ann Wilson on May 22, 1981, in Gainesville, TX at his mother’s home. Don graduated from Gainesville High School in 1968. Following graduation, he furthered his education at the University of North Texas where he got a BBA in 1972. Don worked for Texas Instruments for 45 years before retiring in 2014.
Don was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Tex Bass Club of Sherman for several decades. He passed his love of fishing on to his 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren. If he wasn’t fishing with his grandsons, you could find him fishing with his best friend Dan. On March 29, 2010, Don caught his personal best fish a 13.34 lb. bass at Lake Nocona. This Bass was ShareLunker #493. Don served as the Aubrey High School Bass Captain for Adam 2018-2019 then for Adam and Owen in 2019-2020. As much as he loved fishing, he loved his daughters and grandchildren even more. Being a Pappy was his greatest joy in life! Pappy was loved deeply by his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
Don and his wife loved spending time with their grandkids, spending time at the family lake house, going on cruises and traveling across the United States to see plays, war memorials, landmarks, lakes and so much more.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Jennifer and husband Mike Brown of Gainesville, TX, Shanna and husband Perry Eggleston of Valley View, TX and Devin and husband Mitchell Clearman of Denton, TX. Grandchildren Raily and husband Hunter Boysen, Ethan Vanderburg, Donathan Brown, Adam Eggleston, Owen Eggleston & Tyler Stuckey. Great Grandchildren Colton Boysen, Ava Boysen and Sarah Boysen. His nephew Coby and his wife Lisa Wilborn and nieces Buffy and husband Warren Snider & Ashley and husband Mike Walker. Special family members Zack, Kristina & Emory Brown.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Don E Wilborn, Pearlene and Bill Sappington, his brother Ricky Wilborn and grandchildren Dalton & Courtney Vanderburg.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Friday, October 16, 2026, at Waldo Funeral Home located at 619 N Travis St. Sherman, TX. The funeral will be on ----- 11am, Saturday, October 17, 2026, at
