Donor David Penn went home to meet his Lord on September 19, 2025, following a valiant battle with multiple cancers over many years and the late onset of congestive heart failure.
He was born on March 7, 1936, in Mangum, Oklahoma to parents Jessie Mae Penn and John Wilson Penn. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, sister Arneta Lockerd, and brother James Wilson Penn.
Donor and Jo Etta Moore were married on March 7, 1958, in Ada, Oklahoma. They moved their young family to Sherman, Texas in 1966. His greatest pride was always his family, wife Jo Etta and their son Randy and wife Brenda of Westminster, Colorado; son John and wife Cindy along with grandsons David and wife Kailey Penn of Fort Worth, Texas, and Daniel Penn and fiancé Jordan Slagle of Richardson, Texas; and, daughter Donna Penn of Sherman, Texas.
He graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton, OK and earned both his Bachelor of Science degree and his Master's degree at East Central State College, now East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma.
He worked for Johnson & Johnson in Sherman where he retired with twenty-five years of service, and thereafter for Penn & Associates, Inc.
He also retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves with enlisted and commission service in command and operational positions. He was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
Penn was active in the First Baptist Church of Sherman, Boy Scouts of America (receiving the Silver Beaver Award), National Association of Purchasing Managers, American Production and Inventory Control Society, Dallas - Fort Worth Minority Business Development Council, Reserve Officers Association, United Way, American Red Cross and J&J Retirees of Texas.
In accordance with his wishes his and Jo Etta's cremated earthly remains will be laid to rest in a private service. The family appreciates your prayers and support.
