Obituary

Doris Louise Hunsucker Cox, 95, of Muskogee, OK died Nov. 27th, 2015 at a local nursing home after a brief illness and hospitalization. She was born Dec 27th, 1919, to Wade and Mattie Myrtle (Vaughn) Hunsucker in Staples, TX. She was the middle girl of their three daughters. Doris earned her teachers certificate from Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos and taught school in Staples.

Doris married Alvin Wilson Cox on August 20th, 1941 in San Antonio. They had three daughters; Darlene, Denise and Deedra. Alvin owned the Austin private zoo, Coxville, and Sinclair gas station for 35 years and Doris assisted him in the family business as well as working
for Sears 9 years and at Robin's Party Shop part time. She was an active member of the Austin Tuesday Nighters for 33 years, traveling to many locales.
After Alvin retired in 1984, they moved to Round Rock and Doris was a hospital volunteer for 10 years. After her husband died she moved to Sherman, TX and finally lived her past 2 years in Muskogee, OK. She was active in the Methodist church in each of her residences and joined
the St. Paul Methodist Church after moving to Muskogee.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her younger sister Josephine Oswald and her husband Joe, her older sister Charlotte, her husband Cecil and their son, Larry. She is survived by her daughters: Darlene Davis and her husband, Jim, of Muskogee, OK, and her step-grandson, Lance and wife Joy, and great stepchildren, Kyle and Brittany; Denise Robinson and her husband, Norman, of Lake Ozark, MO. and grandson, Chris Robinson and his wife Samantha, of Mount Prospect, IL, and step-granddaughter, Renee' Robinson Hardin of Palestine TX; Deedra Jean Thompson and husband, Russ of Greenacres, FL and her step-grandson, Ben Thompson and family of Granger, IN.
A Celebration of Doris' life will be held at St. Paul on Wednesday at 1 pm, on Dec 2nd, with Rev. David Burris officiating. Burial services will be held at 14501 North Ih35, Pflugerville, TX 78660 at Cook Walden Capital Park Cemetery at 2 pm on Thursday Dec. 3rd. Funeral services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX. Condolences may be made to the family online at Waldofuneralhome.com.
