Sherman- Funeral services for Doris Elizabeth Bartlett Raulston will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in the Waldo Funeral Chapel. Rev. Bobby Layman of Greenville will officiate with music provided by Dennis Garner. Ted Birbilis, Mark Bartlett, and Dean Bartlett will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery in the family plot. Mrs. Raulston passed away Wednesday, April 23 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center at the age of 88.
Doris was born on February 19, 1920 near Gunter, Texas to the late James Wiley and Lottie Lula (Stoffregen) Bartlett. After graduating from Gunter schools, Doris went to work at the S.H. Kress Store, where she met Dean Raulston. They married on March 31, 1940 in Gunter. Dean and Doris worked together many years as the owners of Hussy's Toy Store in Sherman in the 1950's and later as the managers of several of the M.E. Moses Dime Stores in the Dallas area. Doris was an active member of the Texoma Squares, the Shakespeare Club, the Wilson N. Jones Ladies Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church of Sherman. Doris had many friends at her residence at the Renaissance and especially enjoyed their games of Bridge and Canasta.
Doris is survived by her son, B.M. Sandy Raulston and partner Ted Birbilis of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren, Don Allen Blakely of Arlington and Judith Lynn Robertson of Bowie, Texas; four great grandchildren, Holly Blakely, Jeremy Don Blakely, both of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and Blake Robertson and Lornah Robertson, both of Bowie, Texas; one brother, Durward Bartlett and wife Marion of Paris, Texas; sister-in-law, Wanda Bartlett of Dorchester; and nephews, Mark Bartlett and wife Kathy of Sherman and Dean Bartlett and wife Lisa of Murphy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; a daughter, Saundra Dean Raulston Blakely Prichard; one brother, Jack Bartlett; and a nephew, Jimmy Bartlett.
