Dorothy Lee Norris Carver, a long-time resident of Sherman, Texas, passed away July 9, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born November 18, 1929, in Oberlin, Oklahoma, Dorothy was the daughter of Jessie Earnest and Myrtle (Wright) Norris. She graduated from Bonham High School. In 1949, Dorothy married James M. Carver Jr. in Bonham, beginning a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and quiet resilience. She worked in various positions over the years at Whites Auto, Wilson N. Jones, JCPenney, and Walmart.

Dorothy is survived by her children Pam Harper, Beth Montgomery, Connie Gates, and Gary Carver, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Carver; sisters Zora Mae Baker, Mary Frances Sinks, Luella Sinor, and Jonetha Cooksey; and brothers James Edward Norris, Troy Norris, and Thomas Norris.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Waldo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The funeral service will be at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Chris Jones will officiate.

Dorothy will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who supported Dorothy over the years, and to Remarkable Hospice for their recent compassionate care.
