Obituary

Douglas Edward Walker was born on May 18, 1932, in Tom Bean, Texas and passed away on June 7, 2024. He was raised in the Tom Bean area and attended school there. He was a paint contractor, home builder, and served 12 and a half years as Grayson County Commissioner. He was a member of the Travis Masonic Lodge #117. Douglas was a member of the New Heritage Baptist Church in Sherman. His parents were Cecil Roy and Margaret Teague Walker. Douglas married his high school sweetheart Emma Lou Hardin on June 15, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Hardin Walker, sons, Larry Walker and wife Donna, Joe Walker and wife Linda, grandchildren; Sterling Calhoun, Lacy Walker, Mandy Johnson and husband Ryan, Travis Walker, Courtney Packer and husband Daniel, and Lauren Hobbs and husband Will. 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, sister Chris Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.

His hobbies included his love of family, hunting, fishing, and playing dominoes, drinking coffee with his friends at Dairy Queen, but above these things, his love for the Lord.

He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Robert Aubrey Walker, sister Linda Cecilia Moore, and one grandchild Shiloh Ann Walker.

Services will be held on June 13, 2024, at Waldo Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Blackburn officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. and service will start at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Pilot Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Walker, Ryan Johnson, Will Hobbs, Daniel Packer, Rick Borker, and Bo Forehand.

Honorary pallbearer will be Nathan Moore.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude or their favorite Charity.
