Obituary

Dwain Harvey, age 65, of Arlington, ascended to his eternal home Tuesday, December 26th at the Mansfield Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Dwain Atwell Harvey was born on August 25, 1958 to the parents of Elder W.S. Harvey and Lucille Harvey. He was educated in Bonham Schools and graduated from Bonham High School in 1976. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1980.

Dwain was the youngest brother of eleven children and often called himself, "the seventh of the seven sons". He was the light of his family and he was well well-known for being a comedian because he always kept everyone laughing. Each of us remembers him in our own way, but it's never without his laughter, a joke or a smile. Dwain could make you laugh until you cried.

He enjoyed cooking and eating. He was a self-taught chef. He could craft all kinds of meals from mexican, to frying turkeys during the holidays, and smoking meat for barbecues. At one time he had a catering business in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which allowed him to thrive in his passion for cooking, making people laugh, and interacting with others from all walks of life.

He was loved by his many friends in the Bonham area, and he will be missed when the time comes to play dominoes, sing, and dance to those wonderful songs from the 70's like Earth Wind and Fire. Dwain was a true lover of music of all genres including gospel and country music just to name a few.

Dwain accepted Christ at an early age and was a licensed minister in the Church of God in Christ. He was a true believer and his faith led him to surviving and defeating stomach cancer more than ten years ago. His faith and belief in God was the primary force in his life and he willingly shared his beliefs and testimony with others until his light on earth was dimmed and his soul transitioned to his heavenly home. Dwain departed this life on December 26, 2023 just before dawn. He has transitioned from this world into eternity and his light, love, and memories will live on in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his wife Janessa, a loving companion for many years, his parents Elder W.S. Harvey &  Lucille Harvery, brothers: Noah Harvey, Lowell Harvey, Rayburn Harvey, Lawrence Harvey, Sam Harvey; sister Willece "Regina" Cunningham.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters: Opal Hall (Roosevelt) of Los Angeles, California, Shirley Brown and Marian McNealy both of Arlington, Texas; one brother Elder Anthony Harvey (Pamala) of Bonham, Texas and his two children Brandon Henson (Jamey) of Lubbock, Texas and Daunté Harvey (Hannah) of Bonham, Texas and one granddaughter, Gabrielle Henson, his cousin John Harvey of Tacoma, Washington who was more like a brother to him, his best friend Clarence "Clinky" Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
