Ella Mae Silvey's Obituary

Sherman- Funeral services for Ella Mae Silvey will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 29 at West Sherman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Wood of the church will officiate. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her sons, John, Stephen, Timothy, Paul, Daniel, and Joel, and sons-in-law, Kevin Lingemann and Keith Gerrels. Mrs. Silvey passed away Wednesday, October 24 at Texoma Medical Center at the age of 73.

Ella Mae was born on April 30, 1934 in Hettinger, North Dakota to the late Emil and Bertha (Miller) Schneider. She graduated from Valley City State Teacher's college in North Dakota and Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. Ella married John A. Silvey on August 5, 1956 in Hettinger. Mrs. Silvey taught school for many years and was an active member of the local churches they attended, teaching the children's Sunday school classes and vacation bible school. Mrs. Silvey also taught night school for troubled children and those striving to obtain their GED.

Mrs. Silvey is survived by her husband of 51 years, John of Sherman, Texas; six sons, John Mark Silvey of Austin, Texas, Stephen David Silvey of Plano, Texas, Timothy James Silvey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Paul Thomas Silvey of Justin, Texas, Daniel Phillip Silvey of Plano, and Joel Andrew Silvey of Carrollton, Texas; two daughters, Esther Lingemann of Cherokee, Oklahoma and Mary Elizabeth Gerrels of Garland, Texas; ten grandchildren, Kristin Silvey, Kayla Silvey, Sarah Gerrels, Matthew Silvey, Michael Silvey, Megan Silvey, Joshua Silvey, John Silvey, Jaden Silvey, and Kilyn Silvey; one brother, Clifford Schneider of Spokane, Washington, and four sisters, Laura Fisher of Ashley, North Dakota, Doreen Edwards of Terre Haute, Indiana, Vera Wahl of Chanhassen, Minnesota and Phyllis Neilson of Pine Have, Wyoming.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County and West Sherman Baptist Church.
