Ellen Louisa (Taylor) Davis

Ellen Louisa (Taylor) Davis, beloved mother, was born December 5, 1941 in Elmira, NY and passed away on April 11, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Ellen went to Corning High School in New York and majored in art. She had taken some art courses and was featured in several newspapers for her art including the McKinney Courier Gazette on August 27, 1995 in the Sunday Spotlight for Artist recreates famous legends. Ellen was also a doll artist in Indian Culture and belonged to the Art Club of McKinney. She made fairy dolls that hung from the ceiling, did canvas art, loved folk art, painted many pictures for family, and sculpted masks to put on the wall. She will be remembered for her many artistic talents.

Ellen also enjoyed keeping her flower garden and rose bushes. She would get up early to water her flowers and watch the butterflies and bees. Her favorite were the hummingbirds. She would buy flowers to attract hummingbirds and put out hummingbird feeders. She loved sitting in a chair and watching the hummingbirds.

Mom was so awesome and family was so important to her. She told of living in New York and walking ten miles through the snow to get work, so she could feed her five children. She always cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and was a great cook. We loved being with Mom at Christmas. Mom has a dog named Reeses and Debbie has one named Mischief. Mom treats her dogs like her children with dog toys and doggy door.
