The Life I Lived

On September 1st, 1950, in Sherman, Texas, Willie James McGee and Evelyn Ann McGee welcomed to this world a daughter named Evelyn Marie McGee. Marie attended Sherman Public Schools; she was a cheerleader at Fred Douglas, where she was the shortest and loudest voice on the team. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1968.

She married Grady Gilliard on March 23, 1972, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and they were blessed with a son, Grady Gilliard Jr. She later moved back to Sherman, where she worked at Home Health for several years. She became a faithful member of the Grand Avenue Church of Christ and loved her church family.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Marie entered her eternal rest at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister (Beverly Casey), and twin daughters, Brenda Fay and Linda K McGee.

She leaves to cherish memories: Son Grady Gilliard Jr, grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

The memorial celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, at 2:00 pm, in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, 619 N. Travis St, Sherman, TX.

The family will receive visitors one hour before the service.
