Evelyn Ann Johnson, 91 of Sherman entered into eternal rest on May 16th 2023, at homestead of Sherman. Mrs. Johnson was born January 17, 1932, in Bells, TX to York and Myrtle Goodman. She grew up in the Bethel Bells TX community and attended Bethel Bells schools. Evelyn was blessed with two beautiful daughters Beverley Ann and Evelyn Marie. After moving to Wichita Falls, TX she met the late Johnny Johnson and they were married and spent many years of marital bliss. While living in Wichita Falls she was employed by Sprague Electric and labored many years until retirement. After retirement she returned back to her hometown Sherman, TX to enjoy rest and relaxation and family. She became a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church where she served as a choir member and loved to share her gift of singing for the lord until her health declined. She loved the lord and her family. Thank you for your great legacy to live by, rest easy my queen you deserve it. Now its time to be at rest!!
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beverly Ann Casey (Tommy) of Sherman and Evelyn Marie Gilliard of Sherman. Two grandchildren: Detrius Carter (Myra) of Utah and Grady Gilliard of Sherman, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great great grands, and a host of relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be Friday, May 26 th from 1 P.M to 5 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Saturday, May 27 th at 11 A.M. in the Greater New Hope Baptist Church – 722 E. Pecan St. Sherman with Rev. Steve Stell Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
