Gene Allen Smith was born in Sherman, Texas on October 1, 1959 to Floyd and Hazel Smith.

He passed away surrounded by his family on April 22, 2023 in Sherman.

Gene was always working on something and could fix anything. He loved fishing, music, often playing it loud, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son Chad Smith, daughter, Miranda Smith, son Sean Smith, daughter, Brittany Scharbough, son, John Scharbough, daughter, Chelsey Kirton, grandchildren, Blake Smith, Ryan Smith, Landon Smith and Reese Smith. Gene is also survived by two brothers and four sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
