Obituary

"George William Hawkins jr, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated serviceman, passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Born on November 29, 1941, in Los Angeles County, California, George lived a life marked by devotion to his family, country, and community.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judi Hawkins, whose memory he held dear throughout his days. He is survived by his loving children, Robert Paul Hawkins, Pamela Shin, Tina Wesson, Wendy Rund, and their spouses, who will forever cherish the guidance and love he provided. His legacy extends to his ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

A proud veteran, George dedicated 28 years to the United States Air Force. His career began as an aircraft mechanic, followed by his work in missile maintenance. He ultimately found his calling as a Boom Operator for over 17 years, bravely serving in both the Vietnam War and the Falkland Islands War. His dedication and valor earned him numerous awards and commendations, and he retired with the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, George continued to share his knowledge and passion for aviation as a Flight Simulator Instructor.

George was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner, dedicating his time to these esteemed groups and their charitable endeavors.

Beyond his professional and organizational commitments, George was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Rams, finding joy in cheering for his favorite team. His enthusiasm for the Rams was a testament to his loyalty and passion for football.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospitals, in George's honor.

As they navigate this difficult time, they extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals who provided unwavering support and care during George's final years.

George's warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he find eternal peace, reunited with Judi, as his memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched."
