IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgia Dene
Wertz
February 18, 1934 – April 11, 2025
Funeral services for Georgia Dene Doty Wertz, 91, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1900 West Lamberth, Sherman, Texas. Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Traditions Senior Living in Sherman.
Born on February 18, 1934, in Ogden, Utah, she was the daughter of Horace and LaVina Qualman Doty. Georgia graduated from Ogden High School and went on to build a life centered on faith, family, and service. On September 17, 1953 she married Donald Drabble Little in Ogden, Utah and together they had four sons.
Georgia later married Charles Bradley Wertz, who was the love of her life on April 26, 1974, in Manhattan, Kansas. Together they lovingly blended their families and later relocated to Sherman, Texas, where Charles enjoyed a distinguished career as a concert violinist and music educator. Georgia supported their growing family while also establishing a meaningful career of her own. She served as an Executive Secretary at Albert Brown CPA, Texoma National Bank, and Austin College, later retiring in 2001 from the City of Sherman after 23 years as Administrative Assistant to three city managers: Ed Seegmiller, Talmadge Buie, and Jim Andrews.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Georgia served faithfully in many capacities throughout her life. Her enduring legacy is one of kindness, devotion to family, and a heart always inclined toward service. She took immense joy in attending her loved ones' games, concerts, recitals, and milestones—always arriving with a bag full of treats and a heart full of encouragement. Georgia never missed a birthday, anniversary, baptism, or celebration, always marking each with a thoughtful card, gift, or phone call.
She is survived by five sons: Kevin Little (Lisa) of St. Joseph, Missouri; Gordon Little (Martha) of Brookshire, Texas; Brian Little (Linette) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Marty Little (Janna) of Sherman, Texas; and Brad Wertz (Lynette) of Lawrence, Kansas. She is also survived by three daughters: Marcya Wertz Gaston; Ellen Wertz Wood (Jeff) of Allen, Texas; and Anne Wertz Richards (Mark) of College Station, Texas. Georgia was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbie Wertz Stanush.
She leaves behind a cherished posterity of 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah.
