Grover Don, 78 years old, of Sherman, passed peacefully from this life Monday, June 12, 2023, in his home in Sherman, TX, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 29, 1945, in Sherman TX. His parents were Grover Bailey and Elma Ruth (O'Neal) Smith. Grover was a graduate of Sherman High School class of 1963. From there he served in the Military, US Air Force, from 1963-1967. He married Mary Jayne Myatt on May 29, 1969, and they just celebrated 54 years of marriage. He worked for Johnson & Johnson in Sherman, TX for many years, finally retiring with the closing of the company doors.
His interests included playing and watching golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys, riding his tractor, and playing with his grandkids. Grover always made sure everyone was having a good time.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Bailey and Elma Ruth, sisters Norma Kay Smith of Sherman, and Johnnye Nell Kohrs.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jayne, sister Glenda Jeanne Eliason of Richland, WA, daughter Georjeania Gearinger and husband Leonard of Sherman, TX, Son Michael Smith and wife Lisa of Sherman TX, granddaughter Catherine Bailey Parkerson and husband Skyler of Crandall TX, grandson Alexander Burton, granddaughter Emma Elizabeth of Sherman, grandson Thomas Gearinger of Sherman, Granddaughter Alexa Newman and grandson Zachary Newman, of Tom Bean TX and great grandson Thomas Wayne Newman, with another great grandchild on the way in December 2023.
There will be a family night at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15th. The online guestbook can be signed at waldofuneralhome.com .
The family would like to thank Centric Hospice and Visiting Angels for their care and compassion while caring for their dad. Grover will be truly missed.
