Obituary

Gwendolyn "Hope" Hall, 95, passed away February 23, 2016, at Via Christi Village, Ponca City, OK.

Hope Hall was born February 2, 1921, in Princeton, Collin County, Texas, the daughter of E. L. (Dock) and Myra Chafin Gray. The family moved to Sherman, Texas in 1924. Hope graduated from Sherman High School in 1938 and married the love of her life, Harmon Hall, in 1939. To this marriage were born two daughters and one son.

Throughout the years, Hope worked in several different businesses, retiring in 1984 from BancTexas in Sherman. Hope was a member of North Park Baptist Church for 71 years. She enjoyed working in many activities of the church including teaching Primary Sunday School for many years. She was a member of Gleaners Sunday School Class and Golden Agers. Hope also loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and work on crafts. Her family and many of her friends have enjoyed her creative work. Hope was a very good cook. Her grandchildren say her chocolate chip cookies were "the best". They could always count on "Memaw" having cookies baked for them when they came to visit. In 2008, Hope moved to Ponca City, OK, to be near her family.

Hope is survived by her daughter Beverly and husband Clifton Poet of Ponca City, OK, and her son David and wife Pat Hall of Owasso, OK; Two grandsons, Craig and wife Becky Poet of Ponca City, OK, and Marc and wife Ann Hall of Southeast Asia, and granddaughter Shelly and husband Rob Pringle of Owasso, OK. Eight great grandchildren include Charlie and Harrison Poet of Ponca City, OK; Eli, Callie, Brooke, and Malachi Hall of Southeast Asia; and Anna and Liam Pringle of Owasso, OK; a beloved niece June and husband David Reynolds, and four wonderful nephews, Jerry and wife Anita Blankenship, Mark and wife Judy Blankenship, Ron and wife Doris Gray, and Mike and wife Patti Gray.

Preceding her in death were her husband Harmon in 1980, their infant daughter Sandra in 1943, her parents E. L. and Myra Gray, brother Wallace Gray, sister Dorothy Blankenship, and nephew David Lawrence Gray.

Services will be held at Waldo Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, February 27, at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Murphy presiding. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
