Obituary

Harry Lake of the Sherman, TX area passed away on November 4th of 2023.
He was born in 1937 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Harry was a beloved Husband, father, grand-father, great grand-father, brother, son, and grandson.  He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 4 children-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 5 grandchildren in-law, and 9 great grandchildren.  Harry is also survived by 3 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His life was greatly influenced by the Polio epidemic of 1952, as he and all 5 of his brothers were afflicted.  Three of his brothers were permanently impacted.  The sacrifice and support of his parents, the courage and determination of his brothers, and the support of both extended family and the local community all shaped his life-long beliefs and inspired lessons that he continued to impress upon his family throughout his lifetime.
Harry graduated with a Masters in Physics from Oklahoma State University (although it was Oklahoma A&M when he first started), where he met his beloved wife – the girl in the pink sweater.
Harry was an esteemed physicist at Texas Instruments before progressing to management with Geophysical Services Inc. (and later Haliburton).  Later, Harry was a well-respected professor and instructor of Management theory and Teamwork at multiple North Texas colleges as well as multiple municipal organizations and private businesses.  He was a recognized member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, as well as a past president of the Texins Texoma club.
As part of his work, Harry travelled across much of the world.  However, he never forgot his roots as a farmer, rancher, and most importantly a family man.
He was an ardent, active supporter of any endeavor (athletics, academics, music, dance, and so many others) that his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were a part of.
Harry enjoyed fishing trips with his brothers, as well as his sons and grandsons as they became old enough to enjoy these great experiences.
He always counted his greatest achievements as the love of his family, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  All of the grandchildren recount annual morning picnics at the lake, as well as multiple family get-togethers and sleepovers.  The get-togethers invariably included bonfires, weenie-roasts (and smores), barbecues, and occasional fireworks at our home with family and friends – as well as with our extended family on the North Canadian River in northwestern Oklahoma.
Most of all, he enjoyed time with his wife: gardening, travelling, weekly trips to Whataburger, and most of all - growing in love together.
On behalf of his family, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of the wisdom he leaves us with, and love of family that we will never forget.
