Obituary

Helen Estell Miller (Tate), lovingly known to all as "Momma Helen," passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. Born on March 1, 1935, in Cash, Texas, to Eddie and Alice Tate, Helen lived a full and beautiful life in Sherman, Texas, where she raised her family and touched countless hearts.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers James Harvey, Marvin Lee, Joe Carl, Chester Leon, and Troy Jr., and their spouses; her sister Dorothy Laverne; and her son-in-law Steve. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving children: Carolyn, Dennis (married to Barbara), Greg (married to Loretta), and Margaret. Helen's joy overflowed as a devoted mother and an extraordinary grandmother to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

For years, Helen worked as a skilled seamstress at Levi Strauss, pouring her care into every stitch. Later, she retired after dedicated service as a rehabilitation clerk for Goodwill Industries. Beyond her work, Helen loved traveling and spending time with her family—moments that defined her life and warmed her spirit. Known for her kindness and warmth, she was the best Grandma anyone could ask for, a title she wore with pride.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in the memories of a remarkable woman.

Momma Helen's love will live on in the hearts of her family and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
