IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen
Myatt
October 2, 1947 – May 12, 2025
Helen Martin Myatt
Helen Martin Myatt was born in Sherman, TX, October 2, 1947, to JL and Sarah (Estes) Martin at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. She passed away peacefully at the age of 77 at Texoma Medical Center with family and friends by her side on Monday, May 12, 2025. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When others broke down, Helen stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Just because she is no longer here, it does not mean she lost her fight. She fought a good fight, kept her Faith and finished her earthly race. Her Faith began as a child at Loving Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member at Fairview Baptist Church.
She had a strong work ethic through the years and worked at Johnson & Johnson, owned K&N Rootbeer Drive-in, co-owner of Earlybird Donut shop, Sherman Democrat, Independent Insurance agent, Dillard's and ended her career with Bulington Coat Factory. She was once President of the Texas Association of Life Underwriters. She enjoyed her time working with and helping others. However, nothing was more precious than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved and adored. They could do "No" wrong.
Family was always important to Helen. She cherished the relationship she had with each family member. After her father's passing, Helen lovingly took on the responsibility of raising her siblings Ronnie Martin, Martha Dollins and Rickey Martin. They remained close, loved and cared for one another for the rest of their lives. In 1967, she met Earl Myatt to begin an adventurous journey that lasted over 57 years. They have their oldest daughter Misty Cardwell, a son Chris Myatt and daughter, Betsy Dowell. Later they opened their home to niece, Krystal Addison and nephews, Nick Myatt and Kevin Addison. Her family circle continued to grow. Nick stayed close after dear family friends, Becky and Bob Blackburn of Sherman adopted him. Helen and Earl continued to raise Krystal and Kevin as their own.
Helen is survived by her husband, Earl Myatt of Sherman, daughter Misty Cardwell and husband, Garland of Sherman, son Chris Myatt and wife, Michelle of Sherman, daughter Betsy Dowell of Dallas, daughter, Krystal Addison of Sherman and son, Kevin Addison of Sherman. Grandchildren Stephanie Collins, Grayson Dowell, Logan Phillips, and Conner Phillips. Great-grandchildren Aubrie Myatt, Ainsley Dowell, Myatt Dowell, Gabe Collins, and Reiley Dowell.
Helen was preceded in death by her two sons, Paul Myatt and Michael Myatt; her parents; three brothers; Jerry in 1945, Ronnie in 1994 and Rickey in 2016; sister Martha Dollins in 2010; grandparents, Addie Martin, John Lester Martin, Ed Estes and Cora Estes; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Pallbearers will be Chris Myatt, Garland Cardwell, Grayson Dowell, Michael Smith, Nick Myatt, Brantley Blackburn, Brian Adams and Keith Myatt.
Memorial services to celebrate Helen's Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor James Moore of The Well Texoma officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM May 16th at the funeral home.
