Jack Wilson Brandon was born January 25, 1941, in Royce City, Texas to Velma Wilson and Jack William Brandon. He left this earth to be with the Lord September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
His school years were in Greenville, Texas. In high school, he lettered all four years in football, basketball and track. In 2014, he was inducted into Greenville High School Sports Hall of Fame. Jack was conferred an Advanced Management Degree from the Kennedy-Flager Business School of the University of North Carolina.
Early in his career he found his gift in sales. First working for Decker Foods in Garland, Texas as sales representative. Moved to Abilene, Texas as sales manager and on to San Antonio as assistant plant manager. He then went to work for ConAgra (Kansas City, Kansas) in Garland, Texas and soon moved to Denison, Iowa as V.P. Of sales western U.S. Leaving ConAgra, he opened a meat distribution plant in Bonham, Texas. From there he had a great opportunity with Fast Food Merchandisers (Rocky Mt., N.C.) which later became Perdue Farms (Salisbury, MD). Jack was in Tennessee where he was V.P. of Sales covering the U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico. After retirement, he went to work for Gardner Pie Company expanding their sales into Texas.
He and Sylvia lived in Georgetown, Texas for 19 years and were members of Hyde Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, chairman of the deacons and finance committee. He and Sylvia served as Sunday School Teachers and as youth coordinator in many different churches. He served on several school boards through the years, serving as President of Bonham School Board. He also served as President of Bonham Rotary Club. Jack put his energy and passion into everything he did. His favorite hobby was golf.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia Harris Brandon, daughter Kimberly and husband Doug Uyechi, son Greg and wife Cheryl Brandon, grandchildren Keoni, Jaaron "JJ" and Kaiyah Uyechi, sister-in-law Sandra McCarthy and husband Michael, niece Amy Best and husband Mike, great niece Morgan Miller and great nephew Ethan Miller, and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by son, Brian Brandon, mother Velma and father Jack Brandon, nephew Brent Hooten and mother and father-in-law LaVerne and Hubert Harris.
Jack was dearly loved by family and friends.
There will be a celebration of Jack's life on October 11, 2025, at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM and the service will be 1:30-2:30 PM. A reception will begin at 3 PM in their home in Sherman.
