Obituary

Athel Junior "Jack" Gardner passed away on April 22, 2023 at the age of 90. Jack peacefully left this world with a loving family by his side.

Jack is survived by his wife Francies of Denison. Jack and Fran found a second chance when they fell in love and were married on May 21, 1998. Embarking on adventure, they traveled for many years in their RV, traversing the 49 continental United States and Canada. The freedom of the open road and the friends and family they visited along the way enriched their life together.

Jack was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska in 1932 to a large family, being the tenth child of thirteen. He enlisted in the United States Army at a young age and served for 20 years, obtaining his GED and advancing to the rank of Master Sergeant. After serving in Korea and Vietnam, Jack was hospitalized where he was eventually honorably discharged.

Jack is also survived by a son, Jackie Gardner of Delaware as well as five step-children: Eddie Payne of Denison, Barbara Kay Merlucci of Boca Raton, FL, Debra Martin of Denison, Timothy Wood of Keansburg, NJ, and Mark Wood of Sherman. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.who will miss "Grampa Jack".

Services will be held at Fairview Baptist Church, 222 W Taylor St, Sherman, TX.  Family Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00. Memorial service will begin at 2:00, Graveside after the service will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park,5805 Texoma Pkwy, Sherman.
