James Lynn Bateman died unexpectedly on February 25, 2024, due to a house explosion and fire. James was 70 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He was born on April 30, 1953.

Jimmy is survived and missed by his loving wife Sharon of 37 years, and his children and their spouses; Frank and Michelle Bateman, Jeanette and Jody Brock, James and Laci Bateman, Clint and Julia Rowland, Reagan and Chris Luster and stepdaughter Karen and Neil Ebert. He will be missed but not forgotten by sisters and spouses, Mary and Gayle Spencer and Charlene Smith. Brothers and their spouses A.D. and Mary Bateman, John and Barbara Bateman and David Bateman. Jimmy will forever be cherished by his grandchildren, Damien Minter, Carlin Bateman, Mattie Bateman, Reiley Bateman, Bradley Brock, Danny Brock, Colton Bateman, Carlie Bateman, Addie Rowland, Avery Rowland, Gracie Rowland, Shawn Robinson, Andrew Robinson, Patti Watts, Emily Boyer, Jack Ebert and Luke Ebert.

Jimmy spent several years in the box industry where he was a die cutter and Bobst operator. After retiring he went back to what he really enjoyed, taking care of his goats, they were all named and were his babies. He also loved his birds and taking care of his garden, although the tomatoes usually got eaten before making it to the house. He was well admired, and always the jokester, but if you ever needed help you could count on him. We will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Carlie Bateman, brother Glenn Bateman, granddaughter Maia Luster and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Sharon, children Frank, Jeanette, James, Clint, Reagan and Karen. Brothers and spouses, A.D. and Mary Bateman, John and Barbara Bateman, David Bateman, sisters Charlene Smith and Mary and Gayle Spencer. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law- Bill and Betty Dixon and brother-in-law Ken Jenkins.

Pallbearers are Duane Beauchamp, Charlie Bateman, Danny Shelley, Robert Llewellyn, Adan Resendiz and Gary Whitlock and Honorary Pallbearer Donnie Ersch.

Family night will be held at Waldo Funeral Home on Friday, September 27th from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 28th at 10:00 AM at Grayson Bible Baptist Church- 4400 U.S. 82 Sherman, TX.

The family has requested a private burial service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery which will be for anyone in the family.
