Obituary

James Wilburn Boydson was born on December 9, 1938, to Lydia Bishop and Thomas Houston Boydson in Emory, Texas. He left earth side on April 14, 2026, at Texoma Medical Center after an ongoing battle of pulmonary fibrosis. James graduated from Yuba High School in Yuba, Oklahoma in 1957. Shortly after graduating, he was working at the funeral home and met his soulmate Louise (Turner) Boydson at the hospital where she was employed at. Soon they would wed on March 4, 1960. Together they built their life and their family by adding their two daughters Teresa and Lanesa. He spent his young adulthood in several career choices: funeral home, as a truck driver short time, as a police officer and finally settling down in at American Airlines until he retired and moved to the lake. After that “Granny and Grandaddy’s House” was in full swing.

To know James is to have only loved him. He was so full of life and would always have been there to lend a helping hand. He would know a stranger’s life story in a span of about five minutes. This is a characteristic that will be passed on to his 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Family was always his number two because his eyes were always pointed to the Lord as his number one priority. He found his greatest joy in serving his Lord and Savior and was always eager to His word with others.

James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Boydson, daughter Lanesa (Randy) McKee, grandchildren Justin (Amanda) Haught, Brittany (Jordan) Coleman, Cody (Shelbi) Haught, and Courtney (Ramon) Fierro, along with his 13 great-grandchildren: Marlee, Koen, Emry, Olive, Averleigh, Knox, Ellarie, Kynleigh, Eden, Eli, Gilbert, Zion, and Carlee. He also has several nieces, nephews and so many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter (Teresa Haught), and his siblings: Ed, Charles, Tommy, Idella, Thelma and Faye.

The family extends sincere gratitude to his physicians including but not limited to: Dr. Shannon Goodwin-Chambers, Dr. Anil Singh, Dr. Yasir Lal, Dr. Srinivasa Reddy and along with the staff at Texoma Medical Center & TexomaCare of Madill, Oklahoma. James courageously battled pulmonary fibrosis, and these doctors, along with countless staff members, provided compassionate care until the very end.

Pallbearers include: Cody Haught, Jordan Coleman, Ramon Fierro, Randy McKee, Knox Haught, Jack Brooks, Wesley Morgan and Clint Turner.

Weather permitting, Graveside Service will be at Liberty Cemetery on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. In the event of rain, the service will be held at Sandy Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow services at Sandy Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 3363 W. Sandusky Road, Whitesboro, Texas 76273.

The family will receive friends at Waldo Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
