Obituary

James David Butler Jr was born on April 13, 1960, in Bonham, Texas, in the small laboratory/hospital of Dr. Joe Risser. At the age of 17 days he moved with his parents to Marlin, Texas. After the birth of younger brother Christopher in 1961, the family moved back to Bonham, where they remained until 1966 when they moved to Sherman, Texas.

In Bonham, James attended Kindergarten school at the Episcopal Church. In Sherman, James graduated from Sherman High School in 1978. He loved music and played drums in both the marching band and the symphony band. Throughout his life, he loved Rock and Roll music and would often sit in for the drummer in clubs.

He graduated from Grayson County College as an Emergency Medical Technician. The next year he earned a Paramedic license from North Texas Central College in Gainesville, Texas. He worked as a paramedic, driving ambulances and as an aide in his father's physical therapy clinic. Other jobs he had were insurance salesman, car salesman, and over-the-road truck driver. Like his father, he was a risk-taker, learning to fly airplanes, drive fast cars and motorcycles, and playing table games.

James loved his family, friends, and especially Cindy Lou Banister, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2023. James never really recovered from Cindy's death, although Rossi the Cat remained his close companion. James was also preceded in death by his father James David Butler Sr. in 2019.

He is survived by his mother, Avo Butler, son James Lacy Butler, brother Christopher Steven Butler, nephew Jared Butler, niece Julia Butler, Cindy's daughter, D'Ann Banister and her daughters Kezlyn Crane, Keegan Holt, and Cindy's son Mark Banister.
