IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Jim"
Glynn Covington
December 2, 1938 – May 9, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of James (Jim) Glynn Covington on Thursday May 9, 2024. Jim passed suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Born December 2, 1938 to Granville and Merle (Ball) Covington in Denison, TX, Jim spent his childhood years in the Sherman / Denison area. He grew up with 4 brothers and sisters on the family farm, graduated Denison High School in 1957, and went on to earn a BBA in Marketing in 1978 from North Texas State University. Jim served in the U S Army being honorably discharged in 1963. His attention to detail and high standards served him well throughout his career as a Manufacturer's Representative for the Defense and Aerospace Industry, a career he continued to serve in as a quality inspector and auditor.
Jim loved big. He married Karan Lee Woodard on December 27, 1976 in Fort Worth, Texas. They shared 47 years together in what can only be described as a beautiful partnership, with just the right amounts of love, laughter, practical jokes, and grace. Theirs was a special love.
Jim loved big. He spent his days loving his family, his animals, his neighbors, friends, nature, strangers, travel, and learning. Jim loved life. And Jim loved the Lord. Jim recently re-professed his faith at First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, where he and Karan attended together.
Jim loved big. He was an active Free Mason, serving tirelessly and with the same intensity and integrity he applied to everything. He was a Past Master of the Panther Creek Lodge in Fort Worth, TX, and the current Senior Warden of the George R Reeves Lodge of Pottsboro, TX. He is a recent recipient of the 50-Year Service Award and was scheduled to serve as the Master of his current lodge for 2025.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karan Lee Covington; daughter Kimberly and Dan Slater; daughter Amy Covington and Kristine Olsta; grandchildren: Timothy and Mandy Rivera, Sarah Irvin; greatgrandchildren: Hailey, Nathaniel, and Kelsey; sister: Sue Gudgel; many nieces and nephews; and numerous 4-legged companions.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Granville and Merle Covington; siblings: Shari Walters, Mickey Dickfoss, and Charles Covington.
Jim's life will be honored with a viewing on Tuesday May 14th, 5:00pm-7:00pm at Waldo Funeral Home. Celebration of life will take place Wednesday May 15th, 2:00pm at Waldo Funeral Home, directly followed by a graveside service including Masonic and Military honors at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, TX.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Jim's life of love and service, the family requests that donations be made to the George R Reeves Masonic Lodge, 901 Spur 316, Pottsboro, TX 75076 or with PayPal at www.paypal.me/pottsboromasons

Jim touched many lives. His big love will be missed, but his legacy will live on through his family and his good works. It is finished Jim. Job well done.
