James Powell was born Monday, March 19, 1973 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Anthony and Margie (Boston) Powell and unexpectedly departed this life on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the age of 43.

James is a graduate of Sherman High School. After graduation, he attended Grayson College for a couple years and later the University of North Texas. He was manager of Applebee's in Sherman the past 17 years. He was a talented artist who loved to paint portraits. James designed the team mascot for his girls' soccer team, the Silver Swarm, whom he assisted as coach. He loved his kids more than anything and they were his pride and joy. James loved his family dearly and enjoyed the many family's outings and camping trips.

He is survived by his children Zane Powell, Aiden Powell, and Alexis Alderson; parents Anthony and Margie Powell; fiancé Kailey Alderson; brother Shawn Powell and fiancé Stephanie Pettis; sister Shannon Brin and husband Charlie all of Sherman; grandmother Cora Powell of Noble, OK; nieces and nephews Tehya Powell, Anslee Powell, Kasen Brin, Britton Powell and Talia Pettis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Services to celebrate James' life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Faith Church with Pastor Ryan Cernero officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery with Matt Bardwell, Keven Dueer, Shawn Powell, Matt Saitas, Charlie Brin and Tyler Inman serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 21, from 6-8 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
