Graveside services for James W. Talley, age 87, of Sherman, TX will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, TX. Rev. Bobby Fletcher will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX.
James passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Sherman Healthcare Center.
He was born in Royce City, TX on December 17, 1924 the son of Roy B. and Verda Neal Rascoe Talley. He attended Royce City School until the 7th grade then moved to Whitewright where he graduated. In 1942 he joined the United States Army. James worked at the McKinney Hospital and the Sherman Police Department before beginning work as a Letter Carrier Post Office in 1956 and continued working there until his retirement. He married Doris Jaco on August 8, 1948 in Sherman, TX. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2002. He was a member of the Dorchester Baptist Church.
James is survived by his son, Paul C. Talley and wife Martha of Dripping Springs, TX, son, James Michael Talley and wife Wanda of Sherman, TX, daughter, Elaine Miller and husband Billy of Sherman, TX, grandchildren, Angus Talley of Sherman,TX, Adrian Mansfield of Gunter, TX, Lindsey McGlynn of Richmond, TX, and Jacob Miller of Sherman, TX, step grandchildren, Adrian Carroll of Bozeman, MT and Aaron Carroll of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Micah Talley, Delilah Mansfield, Mackenzie Cooke, Kaitlyn Cooke and Emily Cooke.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Mary White.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1st from 12:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service.
