Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James E Washington, who left us on 01/13/2025 at the age of 82. James is a cherished member of our family and will be deeply missed by all who know him.

James was born on February 1, 1942, in Sedalia, Missouri and grew up surrounded by family and friends who loved and supported him. He attended Hubbard school in Sedalia, Missouri. He pursued a career in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He excelled and made lasting relationships that would shape his future. After serving in the Navy for 20 years he continued his career with Garret Aviation for about 15 years.

Throughout his life, James was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. He served God and worked as a deacon since 1980. He brought joy and inspiration to those around him. James's dedication to God, family and friends was a testament to his character and commitment to making the world a better place.

James is survived by his wife Rosie Washington his children Reginald Washington, Rhonda Washington, Jeanne Washington (Eugene Fisher). Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, God children, brothers and sisters. We will forever hold his memory in our hearts. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend, always ready with a smile and a helping hand.

Though James is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the indelible impact he had on our lives.

Rest in peace, Daddy. You will forever be missed and never forgotten.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 25th at 11 A.M. at Friendly Church of God in Christ, 711 E. Lamar, Sheman, with a public visitation beginning at 10 A.M. prior to the start of the service.  Officiating will be Elder Robert Softly and Elder James Ezell will deliver the eulogy.  Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
