With profound sadness and a lifetime of love, the family of Jaydon Davis announces his passing on August 30, 2026, at the age of 18.
Jaydon was born on November 8, 2007, and from the very beginning, his life was surrounded by love. Though his journey brought challenges that required tremendous strength, those challenges never defined him. Jaydon was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, great-grandson, cousin, and a very special young man who brought immeasurable love and joy to the lives of those around him.
Jaydon shared an especially precious bond with his Nannie and Poppy, Cindy and Troy Crabtree. To his Nannie, he was affectionately known as “Poonan,” a special nickname filled with years of love, caregiving, laughter, worry, comfort, and countless memories that will forever belong to the two of them.
His brother, Jaylon, also held a special place in Jaydon’s life. Jaylon helped care for Jaydon at night, but they were always brothers first. Like brothers do, they fussed at each other, picked at one another, cut up, and laughed together. One minute they might be fussing and the next they would be laughing. Those everyday moments between two brothers are now some of the most precious memories of all.
Jaydon loved visits from his little twin cousins, Kayden and Brayden. He enjoyed watching the boys come to see him every morning, running around his room and bringing all of their little-boy energy with them. Sometimes they would settle down long enough to watch television with him. Their daily visits became part of Jaydon’s routine and brought life, laughter, and activity into his room.
Jaydon also had a special bond with his Aunt Skylar—and he made sure she knew it. Jaydon recognized her voice, and if he heard Skylar but she didn’t come into his room to see him, he would let out a holler and fuss until she came. He knew exactly what he wanted: his Aunt Skylar and his hug. Once she came in and gave him the attention and affection he was waiting for, all was right again. It was Jaydon’s own way of reminding the people he loved that they were expected to come see him.
Jaydon found happiness in his favorite things. He loved SpongeBob SquarePants and Blaze and the Monster Machines, and he especially enjoyed movies that had music, songs, and plenty of funny moments. The familiar characters, songs, and laughter that filled his days became part of the soundtrack of Jaydon’s life.
Jaydon leaves behind his father, Jayson Davis; his mother, Shanice Wimbish; his brothers, Jaylon Davis and Stanton Wimbish; his Nannie and Poppy, Cindy and Troy Crabtree; his aunt, Skylar Crabtree; his great-grandparents, Terry and Sherry Harbin; his great-uncle, Dan Rolen Jr.; his little cousins, Kayden and Brayden; and numerous other cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Eighteen years could never have been enough. Jaydon’s life cannot be measured simply by the number of years he was here, but by the tremendous amount of love contained within those years. His family cared for him, protected him, advocated for him, laughed with him, fussed with him, comforted him, celebrated him, and above all, loved him completely.
There will be reminders of Jaydon everywhere—in SpongeBob, in Blaze and the Monster Machines, in a funny movie or a song, in the sound of little boys running through a room, in memories of two brothers cutting up together, and in the thought of a young man hollering from his room because Aunt Skylar had better not think she was going to walk by without giving him his hug.
Those are the moments that made up Jaydon’s life. They are the moments his family will hold onto now.
Although saying goodbye brings a heartbreak that words cannot adequately express, Jaydon’s story does not end with his passing. He will live on in every person who loved him, in every story told about him, in every laugh shared while remembering him, and in a love that death can never take away.
Forever our Jaydon. Forever Nannie’s Poonan.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten
