My Earthly Journey
Jerry L. Dehorney Sr. was born Dec 1,1948 in Denison, TX. to the late George W. Dehorney and Rosie Mae Jackson. Jerry received his education in the Denison Independent School District. He later went on to attend computer trade school in California, as well as Grayson County College for body and fender, and photography. Jerry served 2 stints in the Vietnam War. At one time he owned and operated Annie's house of Fashion, and ultimately retired from Kwikset.
54 years ago, on January 13th,1969, Jerry married the love of his life Francina Wright. Through this union they had 4 children Kerry, Jeri (Reggie), Jerry Jr. Desiree and 1 Son in Love: Curley-Ray (Janeen). 14 grandchildren: Cora (Vernon), Tylyn (Amber), Kasandra, Jasmine, Terrance, Tyrell, Darius, Leah, Brayln, Amiah, Dylan, Mikah, Ayden, Donaven. 16 great grandchildren: Arieana, Devin, Abrianna, Corrine, Quinton, Mula, Eli, Rashaun, Naaviaha, Zaden, Tate, Jaylyn, Josiah, Lucas, LaRae, Yosohn.
Jerry loved to talk, and most often you would find him talking about the Lord and the Bible. He had a love for music, photography, working on cars and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He once served as the President of the NAACP of Denison and on the board at Grayson County College. Later in life, he became the pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist in Trenton, TX. For the last 16 years, he has served as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Denison TX.
He was preceded in death by father, George W. Dehorney Sr, daughter, Kerry L. Wilson, great granddaughters- Abrianna Dehorney, Corrine Curry, grandparents, William and Azel Topsy, brothers, Richard (Paulette) Dehorney, Thurman (Deborah) Dehorney, Robert (Vickie) Dehorney
Survived by his mother Rosie Mae Jackson, mother in love Ola Faye Dehorney, wife Francina Dehorney, children, Jeri (Reggie) Howard, Jerry L. Dehorney Jr., Desiree Dehorney, son in love Curley Ray Jackson, brothers George (Beverly) Dehorney Jr. Paul (Sheila) Dehorney, Eddie (Martha) Dehorney, Harold (Samira) Dehorney, Anthony (Alishia) Dehorney, sisters, Cynthia (Alvin) Brown, Phyllis (Randall) Akers, Shirley (Ebbie) Watson, Kristi (Terry) Roberson, Felicia (Aubrey) Hockoday. 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Rev. Jerry L. Dehorney, Sr., age 74, of Denison ascended to his eternal home Monday, February 13 th at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
A public visitation will be Friday, February 17 th , from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 519 E. Shepherd St., Denison.
The funeral service will be Saturday, February 18 th at 2:30 P.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1131 S. Scullin Ave., Denison. Rev. Alton Blakely is the Host Pastor.
