Jerry Lonzo Hurst
Jerry Lonzo Hurst, known to those who loved him as Jerry Boy, PawPaw, PePaw, Mr. Jerry, and Biscuit, was born July 2, 1945 in Bokoma, Okla. to Lonzo Hurst and Mattie Dail Spillman Hurst. He left from our sight on Jan. 12, 2008 in Denison, Texas after a brief illness. His parents and a sister, Juanita Chitwood, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Angelia Hurst. Also, son and daughter-in-law, J.L. and Stephanie Hurst of Freer, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Evondail and Stephen Strickland of Krebs, Okla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Lisa Stacks of Denison; Mark and Rhonda Stacks of Cookville, Texas; Sean Stacks and Joyce Gotchall of Mt. Pleasant; Tim and Tammy Stacks of Okinawa, Japan; daughters Jane Maynard and Lesa G'sell of Clayton, Mo.; sisters, Wanda Hurst and Charlotte Watson, both of Idabel, Okla.; sister and brother-in-law Sherland and Jimmy Clapp of Corpus Christi; grandchildren Jeffrey, Jason and Justin Hurst, Lucinda Guthrie, Dustin, Brandon, and Kaitlin Stacks, Chance and Taylor Bradford, Kailey and Kelsey Stacks, Isaac, Elijah, Allie, and Ashton Stacks, and Jordan and Grant G'sell; former wife and friend, Linda Hurst of Idabel, Okla., as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
Jerry was a veteran of the National Guard and served proudly and honorably from 1963-1968. Jerry was semi-retired at the time of his death but continued to share his love for children by managing the cafeteria at Texoma Christian School in Sherman. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, and will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 15, 2008. Burial will be at the Odell family cemetery in Denison, Texas. The family will receive friends and visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday Jan. 14 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
