My Earthly Journey
Jessie Mae Helen Blanton was born September 23, 1945 in Hendrix, OK. to Jasper Kelly Posey and Malinda Jane Posey. She attended school in Achille, OK. Jessie married her husband of 56 years, Jerry (Jay) Blanton on March 21, 1962.
She worked as a presser at Action Line and also at Diaper Jeans in Denison TX. She also worked as an operator for Texoma Area Paratransit System (TAPS). Upon leaving TAPS, Jessie, on August 8, 1993 received her General Educational Development from Grayson County College. She immediately started working at MHMR of Grayson County, from whence she retired.
As a child Jessie attended Calvary Baptist Church in Hendrix, OK. Here she, along with her sisters and cousins, sang in the choir. She joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Denison, TX. in April of 1980. She was baptized on April 27, 1980 and went on to serve as a member of the choir.
Jessie and Jay were inaugural coaches for a new fast pitch softball league, Ms. Softball America, in Denison. On weekends they would load up the station wagon and travel around Texas for tournaments. Jessie was also an avid bowler and spent many years traveling the country bowling in tournaments. There was not any day of any week that there couldn't be found a niece, nephew, little brother or friend(s) of one of her kids playing or just spending time at 1010 West Woodard.
Jessie, at the age of 79, ascended to her heavenly home on June 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, and her parents Jasper Kelly Posey and Malinda Jane Love.
Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, Valerie Patterson(Clarence), Jerry Blanton(Kristi), James Blanton(Cheryl), Craig Blanton(Pam), and Victor Blanton. Siblings, Johnnie Fleming, Billye Johnson(Sammie), Donald Parker and Willie Ray Posey. Sisters-in-law, Lorene Fields, Christine Favors(Archie) and Mary Lou Love. There are also 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The service will be Saturday, June 14th at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lighthouse Church off of Spur 503 in Denison.
Rev. Raymond England is the Host Pastor and Rev. Tony Favors will deliver the eulogy.
