Jimmie Zane Thompson

Sherman- Jimmie Zane Thompson was born February 4, 1942 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Erby and Margueritte Thompson and passed from this life on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in Sherman.

Jimmie was raised in the Duncan and Velma-Alma area. He joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation serving for 22 years with one year in Vietnam and retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He was an aircraft technician in the service. During his tenure he was awarded many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. Following retirement, he wanted to get back in the work force and worked as a security guard for over 35 years. Jimmie married Mary Jewel Stevens on December 31, 2009 in Sherman, Texas. Jimmie was a very humble man and loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Pathway Church of God and appointed himself as the 'door greeter'. Jimmie was a very talented cabinet maker in which he enjoyed doing. His hobbies were canoeing and fishing. Jimmie was a loving husband and father.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, son Wesley Paul Thompson, brother Larry Dane Thompson, and 2 grandchildren Benjamin Harrod and Kevin Thompson.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Sherman, TX, daughter Laura Lee Thompson Russell and husband Johnny of Ardmore, OK, son Matthew Brent Thompson of Hutchinson, KS, 3 grandchildren Joshua Chance of Iowa Park, TX, Jennifer Chance of Albuquerque, NM, and Jacob Zane Thompson of Oahu, HI, and daughter-in-law Jo Ann Thompson of Ardmore, OK.

Services to celebrate Jimmie's life will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, July 19, at Pathway Church of God with Pastors Bill Lee and Don Russell officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Jacob Thompson, Christopher Russell, Shane Stevens, Shannon Stevens, Michael Stevens, Jr., and Daniel Stevens.

Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard will have full military rites at the cemetery.
