Obituary

Jimmie Bell Yelton, 93, of Denison, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 with family by her side. Jimmie was born in Paris, Texas on August 4, 1929 to James Hollis and Lelia Clarice (McCollum) Garner. Jimmie met and married the love of her life Edward Trexler Yelton in Durant, Oklahoma on September 6, 1954. Ed served in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel and  traveled extensively throughout his career in the United States as well as to Okinawa, Japan. Once Ed retired they settled in Denison, Texas. Jimmie was a homemaker, gardener, seamstress, avid bowler, and had a love for dancing. After her beloved husband Ed passed away Jimmie worked in the shoe department at K-Mart and Super K-Mart. She may have passed from this world, but her love, legacy, and spirit will live on through her child, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Lt. Col. Edward Yelton; Parents, Hollis and Lelia Garner; Sisters: Doris Wright and husband Joe of Tulsa Oklahoma, Edna Salyer and husband Chuck of Denison, Robbie Jo Nichols and husband Don of Liberty Hill; and her brother Johnny Garner and wife Myrt of Denison.

Jimmie leaves behind her daughter Linda Kay Rucker and husband Ray of Denison; grandson Brian Nichols and wife Desiree of Denison; granddaughter Khristy Mathers and husband Erin of Sherman; great-grandsons Austin and Travis Nichols, Hunter and Houston Pokorny, Jared Taylor and wife Kaylie of Gordonville; great-granddaughters Sophie Mathers, Kiersten and Jillian Harston; great-great-grandchildren Bille and Judd Taylor.

Being one of five, she has several nephews and one niece, along with their children, that will miss their Aunt Jimmie very much.

Jimmie is also survived by her loving and faithful companion Mike Rotell of Denison.

A gathering celebrating the life of Jimmie will take place at Waldo Funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2-4pm.
