In Loving Memory of Jimmy Dale (Jim) Dorsey

Jimmy Dale (Jim) Dorsey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, entered his eternal heavenly home on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Denison, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old.

Jim was born on August 4, 1946, in Black Oak, Arkansas, to Cecil Dale and Miffie Louannie Dorsey, and was raised in Conway, Arkansas. An award-winning salesman and entrepreneur, Jim launched his first business in Russellville, Arkansas, and later built several successful ventures throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth, Bonham and Bells, Texas area. His work ethic, determination, and integrity left a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Jim's greatest passions in life were his faith, his family, and his work. He lived by the words of Psalm 51:10: "Create in me a pure heart, O God; and renew a steadfast spirit within me." His life was a testimony to that verse, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and perseverance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miffie and Dale Dorsey, and his brother, Royce Dorsey.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda Dorsey, and his children: Tammy (Jaimie) Lancaster, Lisa (Ben) Smith, Jimmy (Ryan) Dorsey Jr, and Katie (Marshall) Gilmore. He was a proud grandfather to Jonathan Lancaster, Lyssa Tilus, John William Lancaster, Madison Honeywell, McKayla Smith, Brooke Dorsey, Ryland Smith, Cole Dorsey, Grant Gilmore, Laura Gilmore, and Lydia Gilmore. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Braxton Dorsey and William Lancaster.

Jim is also survived by his siblings: Martha Fujita, Laura Kurtz, David Dorsey, and Evelyn (Henry) Branch, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Grayson Bible Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas. Pastor Roy Webster of the church will officiate.

Pallbearers are Cole Dorsey, Marshall Gilmore, Eric Branch, Greg Castleberry, Ryan Tilus, and Brigham Murfee. Honorary pallbearers are David Bubbus, Mike Sellers, and Gary Nichols.

The burial will be at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.

Though he has left this earth, Jim's legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
