IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Dewayne
Johnson
August 7, 1956 – October 10, 2025
Jimmy Dewayne Johnson, 69, of Van Alstyne, Texas
Jimmy was born on August 7th, 1956, and passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2025, after a short battle with nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nancy Beth Johnson, his parents, Charlie Mae Johnson and John Marshall Johnson, and 2 brothers, Johnny and David Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Amber Johnson of Van Alstyne, Texas, his 3 stepdaughters, Liz Lockstedt of Wichita Falls, Texas, Nicole and Paul Earnhart of Denison, Texas, Terra and Mario Miralles of Trophy Club, Texas, three granddaughters, Maelee, Bree, and Ireland McBride of Van Alstyne. Step-grandchildren: Nicholas and wife Blanca Jones, Ashley and husband Mikey Gutierrez, Paige Lockstedt, Cleo Sanchez, Jonnie Sanchez, Jacinda Sturgess, and Anthony Miralles. Great-grandchildren Mia Jones, Kennady Mullican, Linkon Buchanan, Sophia Lockstedt, McKenna Gutierrez, Myla Gutierrez, Isabella Noriega, and 2 sisters, Virginia McLaren and Susan Pevey, along with many other extended family members and friends.
Jimmy and Nancy were married on June 25th, 1983. Nancy passed away from early-onset Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 65 on December 22nd, 2015.
Jimmy was in commercial refrigeration for over 30 years before being injured on the job and was unable to continue doing physical labor. He then became a "professional" Pawpaw for the last 13 years of his life. Being a Pawpaw was his most meaningful role. He was quiet, kind, and gentle with all of the grandkids and great-grandkids. He went above and beyond for anyone who needed help. Jimmy enjoyed spending time outside, working on random projects, and listening to Toby Keith music in the garage. His favorite place to be was at home with Amber and her girls; however, his happy place was Mt Nebo. His last trip to Mt Nebo was in the spring of 2023. Mt Nebo holds many memories for everyone in the family. Jimmy requested that some of his ashes to be buried next to Nancy in Throckmorton, Texas.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
