Gordonville- Graveside funeral services for Jessie Oscar Armstrong will be held at 10:00 AM Friday July 20 at Dixie Cemetery near Whitesboro. Dr. Lowell Howard will officiate with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Susan Phillips, 92 County Rd, Sherwood Shores. Mr. Armstrong, 70, passed away Tuesday July 17 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Medical Center.
J.O. was born May 9, 1942 in Quitaque, Texas to the late William and Cena Jane (Southard) Armstrong. He was raised in Lelia Lake. Mr. Armstrong worked for thirty years as a math teacher at Irving High School and had been employed for the last five years as a security guard at Winstar Casino. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
"Uncle J" as he was affectionately known by his family, is survived by one sister, Rosellen Brogdon and her husband Coy of Collinsville and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Matt, and Franklin D.; and one sister, Betty Molder.
