John Melvyn Bertrand - Obituary

John Melvyn Bertrand, age 76, of Pottsboro, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 15, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He was born on May 13, 1941 in Tyler, Texas, to John Rainey Bertrand and Ollie Belle Bertrand.  On August 28, 1968 he married Barbara Nell Mitchell.  He had a Master's Degree in Psychology and taught at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas for 35 years, from 1972 to 2007.  Melvyn was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and member of Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas and was also a member of the worship team that served at Texoma Healthcare Center.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, of the home, his son Stephen Bertrand and wife Heather of Lewisville, Texas, his daughter Sarah Tschoepe and husband Terry of Edmond, Oklahoma, his daughter Mishael Berger and husband Brandon of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jordan Bertrand, Ella Bertrand, Ian Bertrand, Mia Bertrand, Savannah Tschoepe, Rebecca Tschoepe, and Ava Berger and great grandchild, Beckam Tschoepe.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Melvyn had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and continually pointed all those around him toward Jesus.  He dedicated his life to serving our Lord and Savior, whom he loved with all his heart, soul, and mind.  He will rejoice for eternity with our Father in heaven.
