John Blankenship

Howe- My daddy, John Edward Blankenship, 64, of Howe, TX left this earthly life on Thursday, January 25th, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.

John was born on July 17th, 1953 in Little Rock, AR to Bill and Doris Blankenship. He graduated from J. J. Pearce High School in 1972. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1980, John worked for the phone company GTE which changed names multiple times in his 37 years working for them until he retired December 29th, 2017 from Frontier Communications.

He loved spending time with family and friends and taking trips to Oklahoma to see his three grandchildren. He loved fishing and showing off his latest firearms he had acquired. He would call up his friends at all hours of the day or night to go to the casino with him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Doris, and older brother, Greg Blankenship.

John is survived by his sister, Brenda Noth and husband Michael of Ranger; brother Carl Blankenship and wife Frita; daughter, Evelyn Gellenbeck and husband Kris; grandchildren, Colten, Carley, and Coy Gellenbeck; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends at Waldo Funeral Home on Sunday, January 28th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29th at 10:00 am at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City at 3:00 pm. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
