John Brian Dodson, age 60 of Sherman, TX passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026.

John was born January 1st, 1966. He was the beloved son of Joyce and Rufus Dodson. He was known for his kindness and laughter he brought to others. Also known as a die-hard Cowboys fan. John worked most of his life starting at a bus station in Sherman where it was run by a family. He enjoyed that for many years. He also worked at Ken-Mar Auto Parts and the City of Sherman many years where he made so many friends and was loved dearly. John was also a volunteer at a food shelter in Sherman where he loved to help others.

John enjoyed going fishing. He even had his own spot at the lake. He also enjoyed spending time with grandkids, loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. At times, he would sneak off to the casino with his wife and daughter.

John is survived by his wife Teresa Morgan; daughter Brandy Morgan; sons Jason and Tim Morgan; sisters Beth Guerrero and Debbie Fisk; and a brother Tommy Dodson. He had many nieces and nephews and grandkids.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Rufus Dodson; and a brother, Gill Dodson.

To celebrate John’s life, the family will receive friends, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, at the Whitesboro Community Center, 400 Wilson St, Whitesboro, TX 76273. There will be a time of remembrance beginning at 7:00 pm, for stories and tributes to John’s life.

Though we cannot see you, we feel your love in every sunrise, hear your laughter in our memories and carry you in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, may you rest peacefully.
