John Paul Rorie (Fondly known as J.P.) was born on November 16, 1935, in Houston, Arkansas to J.O. and Agnes Rorie. He passed away on June 19, 2023, in Sherman. J.P. married his childhood sweetheart Jean, on April 30, 1955. He served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War and with a career in law enforcement for the next 32 years, Retiring as Chief of Police in 1988.
He is survived by: Wife Jean, Daughter Darla Lassiter, Son Kevin Rorie, three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
J.P. and his wife settled in Sparks, Nevada where they raised their family. After retiring they moved to Sherman, Texas. Playing basketball and riding motorcycles with his family were some of his favorite things to do. He was a family man, weekends were set aside for camping and watching his son play little league baseball. After retirement he enjoyed touring the country in their motorhome and he loved to play golf any day that ended in "y". He always had a joke to tell and that's one of the reasons he was liked by everyone. He was highly respected as a husband, dad, friend, co-worker, and boss. Most important was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord and found no greater joy than knowing his family was serving the Lord. The legacy of a man that loved God, loved his family, and loved his country. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
