John Albert Shepherd Sr., 95-year-old, Sherman, Texas resident, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026.

John was born on December 18, 1930, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, to Joe and Lucille (Hair) Shepherd. He graduated from Cocke County High School in 1949.

Upon graduation, he joined the U. S. Air Force. He was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base and Panama City, Florida. While he was stationed at Perrin, he met his future wife, Doris Nelson. They were married in Sherman, May 5, 1951, and were married until her death in 2012. They were longtime members of East Sherman Baptist Church.

John worked as a machinist for much of his life at Hardwicke-Etter and (for over 30 years) Washington Iron Works in Sherman.

He is survived by a daughter, Juana McBride and her husband, Larry; a son, John A Shepherd Jr; Grandchildren, Jennifer Reedy, Marc McBride, Jaime Shepherd, and Amanda Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Hayden Reedy, Conner Vannatter, Gentrey Shepherd, Paityn Shepherd, Austin Curry, and Jett Curry; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30th, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, at Waldo Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 30th, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
