John Wilson Turner, 87 years old, of Celina, TX, passed away Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at his home.
John was born on August 26th, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, MO. His parents were Lawrence F. and Mary Ann (Prenzel) Turner. He was a graduate of Denison High School. On August 11th, 1961, he married Sharron Kay Jeter in Sherman, TX.
He was an Industrial Mechanic having worked at the Sherman Democrat, Johnson and Johnson, and Folgers over his career.
John was a member of Covenant Church. He enjoyed gardening, golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys and tinkering.
John impacted many lives with his humor, orneriness, stories, and big heart. He gave a big smile to every person he met, and a fist bump when he could. He was deeply devoted to his family and gave his whole heart to his wife of 63 years, Sharron. But his first love was Jesus Christ, whose love he shared fervently and strove to let his light shine through him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lawence and Mary Ann Turner, brother, Al Turner, sister Elizabeth Jade, and his son in law, Kelly Pope.
He is survived by his wife, Sharron Turner of Celina, Son, Jonathan Turner and wife Barbara of Frisco, Daughters, Denise Schmitz and husband Todd of Durant, and Suzanne Turner Pope of Celina.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Katie Schmitz Green, Shawn Schmitz, Noah Turner, Julia Turner, and Hanna Turner, his great grandchildren, McKinley Green and Jackson Green.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm, March 08, 2025, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm, March 8th, 2025, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Holland will officiate.
