IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Wesley
Ham
August 9, 1961 – July 17, 2025
John Wesley Ham August 09, 1961 – July 17, 2025
Johnny, as he's known by his family and throughout the county left this world behind and slipped away into Heaven's Gates at Texoma Medical Center following his battle with Cancer. Johnny was well known throughout the community of Dorchester having many friends and family but leaving behind little in worldly goods. That was Johnny's way… a rebel in many ways, especially as a youngster through his twenties. He grew up in Howe and later lived in Littlefield, TX with his dad and younger brother. When the family returned to the Grayson County area His dad brought a large extended family back with them and they settled in Dorchester. For Several years Johnny moved to Monroe Georgia along with his older Sister Shelia, for a decade or so before returning back to the Dorchester Home where he lived out the rest of his life. Johnny held several different jobs in his life in the Textile industry at Burlington in Sherman and in Monroe, GA. He worked for a short time at the Tyson Foods Plant in Sherman. He also worked a few years at Progress Rail and then with a Tree Service Company. Lastly, he worked with a company that set concrete piers and for many years worked part time at the garage in Dorchester meeting many friends all along his way. There were no strangers in the eyes of Johnny. Johnny was very close to all of his family. Whether horseshoes, dominoes, cards or just sitting around the yard after family gatherings telling old stories John loved them all. Johnny was preceded in death many years ago by all of his Grandparents and then the early death of his mother Shirley Evone Morrison. His mom's early death may have been part of the reason for Johnny's rebel style. Johnny's Dad JW Ham, left a few years ago and then his Extended Mom, Frances a few years later. Johnny is survived by his Brothers J.W. Ham Jr. and wife Carol, Charles A. Ham and wife Jamie all of Howe. Mr. And Mrs. Orville Haynes of Dorchester, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Haynes of Tishomingo, OK. Sisters, Shelia Wilson of Monro, GA. Darla and Husband John Krapf of Sherman. Michelle McDonald of Amarillo, Cathy Terry and Husband Steve of Denison, Emma Young of Sherman, and Lisa Watson and Husband Brent of Gunter, Texas. There are countless Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews and more friends than most of us could hope for. Johnny leaves no left-over ties or unfinished business behind as he leaves this world. The only thing that will be left behind are the broken hearts of his family that loves and misses him. While he may have never had much in worldly goods to give, he would give everything he had to one that needed it, including the shirt off of his back. His heart was as big as his smile and that love he had within he would share with anyone. He also had such a GREAT Love for the animals in his life caring for them with his last dollar if necessary. He was known for taking care of many of the area's feral cats. He'd make sure there was plenty of water and food and as much warm shelter as he could provide in the winters. Dad's old bird Alex will most certainly miss Johnny and their daily conversations and dances. A nephew will be moving in the old family home picking up the care for Alex and the other animals left behind. Johnny's earthly remains will be taken care of by Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas and his family want to express our gratitude for the special way we were greeted. Their love and compassion were extremely evident and we will be forever grateful. A celebration of Johnny's life will be held on His Birthday on Saturday, August 09, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of J.W. and Carol Ham in Howe, Texas and Hosted by them and Sister Darla and John Krapf. The primary speakers will be brother JW and Special Friend Chad Lee. Anyone who has last words to share for their brother and friend during this time is most certainly welcome to do so. The celebration will continue into the afternoon as the family will have a luncheon with foods brought in by different members of the family and friends. Be prepared to share stories, fun and laughter as we all know that is truly what our Brother would want us to do. Also note that our brother would want us to be comfortable so please dress casual for a warm summer day. The Celebration is being held at 1251 Schneider Road, Howe, Texas. In lieu of flowers we ask you to make a donation in John's name to your local SPCA for Johnny's love of all animals. God Speed and God Bless You Brother and Friend – John Wesley Ham. Give love to our Dad and Moms.
