Obituary

Joyce Maxine Fulenchek was summoned by the Lord to join Him on January 11,2025.

Maxine was born in Sandusky, Texas on May 26, 1927 to Thomas and Kate Winchester. Maxine spent her childhood in Gordonville,Texas attending school there until her marriage on October 19, 1944 to Joe Thomas Fulenchek.

The young couple welcomed their son, Joe Marvin, nine months later sparking the beginning of Maxine's most important work; her family.

Joe and Maxine would settle in Sherman and shortly thereafter welcome a daughter, Pamela Joyce, in August of 1953. While Joe worked at Foxworth-Galbraith until his retirement in 1987, Maxine was as diligent of a homemaker as one could hope to be. She and Joe worked for every dime they ever had and didn't take that lightly as evidenced in the huge garden they tended annually from which countless family and friends enjoyed the fruits, especially in the form of Maxine's cobblers and pies.

Maxine was a devout servant of the Lord and a charter member of Woods Street church of Christ in Sherman until its closure just a few years ago. She was the proverbial virtuous woman. The most important thing to her was for her loved ones to come to Christ knowing the value provided by her faith.

She was also a dedicated sports fan. Her favorite sport was whatever season it was, but certainly loved her Cowboys, her Rangers, and her Mavs. Maxine enjoyed evenings with friends playing forty-two and parlayed all of those years of playing with and against loved ones by winning tournaments at the senior center in her later years and had the hardware to prove it.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers;John, Daniel, O.A., Anthony, Thomas and Caraway; her sister Audrey; her 2nd husband Roy Carney; and the love of her life and husband of 47 years, Joe T.

She is survived by her two children Joe Marvin (Betty) of Denison, TX and Pam Kelley (Larry) of Sherman, TX. Five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Nanaw's Place in Denison for the dignified care they provided Maxine these last three years.
