Obituary

Judy Ann Chesshir, 82, of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Judy will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a joyful spirit who always greeted the world with a warm, genuine smile.

Born on October 15, 1942, in Stockton, CA, Judy was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and cherished sister. She married the love of her life, Teddy Chesshir, on June 2nd, 1961, beginning a beautiful journey filled with love, devotion, and family. Together, they raised three sons. She is survived by Kevin and Julie Chesshir of Sherman, Texas, Kris Chesshir and Cristina Lopez of Sherman, Texas, Kurt Chesshir of Katy, Texas, Grandchildren Amberly Chesshir, Austin and Blossom Allen, Teddy and Ashley Chesshir, Avery Allen, Karlie and Adrian Pio, Olivia and Kipton Chesshir, Great grandchildren Ayden, Taylin, Hayvin, Oliver and Nadia, and Brother, Gary Nelson and his wife, Linda of Bonham, TX..

Judy devoted years of selfless service to her community in Sherman, where she was a secretary to the President of Bells Bank. In addition, she was the secretary to the chief of the Sherman Fire Department (Central Fire Station) for 20+ years, where she then retired.

Judy's Hobbies/Interests were going to the casinos (Vegas) and trips with Fairview Baptist Church of Sherman alongside her best friend (Doris O'Brien).  She loved to watch all sports, especially golf (all four rounds) and the Texas Longhorns.  She never missed any of the Triple Crown races.  During the Holidays, she always had Elvis's Christmas music playing in the background.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Chesshir, her mother, Almeta Nelson, and her father, J. W. Nelson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Caleb Fleming officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Fairview Baptist Church.
