Funeral services for Katherine L. Brookshire, 81, will be held at the Waldo Funeral Home on November 25th, in Sherman, TX. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home and the services will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Judith March Hardie officiating.

Katherine passed away on November 18, 2023, at Focused Care nursing home in Sherman.

Katherine Lorraine (Clay) Brookshire was born on February 6, 1942, to Julius Clay and Velma (Hanson) Clay in Talihina, Oklahoma. She was the second oldest of seven children.

The family moved to Denver where Katherine graduated high school and met her late husband, Larry Brookshire. The two married in 1961 and had three children of their own. Her many jobs included, waitressing, custodial positions in two casinos, and managing apartment complexes, but her favorite job of all was being a homemaker and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her favorite pastime was attending flea markets and finding the best deals at garage sales. Katherine also enjoyed family game nights where she would argue her way to winning.

In addition to her beloved parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Jane Clay and Helen (Clay) Shea, her youngest grandson Cason Clay Brookshire, and her great-grandson Memphis Lee Clay Midgette. Survivors include her brothers, Calvin, Carl, and Fred Clay; beloved sister Wilda Folsum; her three children, Vicki Holt, Larry and Steve Brookshire; granddaughters, Sadie Midgette, Lesli Smith, Chelsea Holt, and Taylor Cox; grandsons, Dylan, Breyden, Brandon, and Rylan Brookshire; great granddaughters, Lyla and Leona Cox, Jacelin and Jentri Smith, Emilia and Benjamin Brookshire, and  Zelda Yeargain; as well as many other family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Olin Durant Jr. (JR), Chandler Smith, Dylan, Breyden, Brandon, and Rylan Brookshire.
