Kenneth Leroy
Henderson
Sep 20, 1964 — Aug 14, 2026
Sherman, Texas
In Loving Memory of Kenneth “Kenny” Leroy Henderson Jr. September 20, 1964 – August 14, 2026 Kenneth “Kenny” Leroy Henderson Jr., 61, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2026, in Denison, Texas, surrounded by the love of the family whose lives he helped shape.
Kenny was born on September 20, 1964, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Kenneth Leroy Henderson Sr. and Kathrynn (Shuff) Henderson. He graduated from Tower Hill High School in Tower Hill, Illinois, in 1982. Those who knew Kenny knew he was never a man who needed a lot of words. He was quiet, straightforward, and could often say everything that needed to be said with nothing more than a certain look or tone. He was simply Kenny or Dad—never one to put on a show or pretend to be something he wasn’t. More than anything, Kenny was a family man. He shared more than 35 plus years with his wife, Annie Martinez, building a life and a home together through all the seasons that come with loving someone for that many years. He was Dad to Brittney and Jonathan. Being a father isn’t always defined by biology. Sometimes, being a dad is a choice made over and over again through the years—by showing up, staying, raising children, teaching them, correcting them, worrying about them, protecting them, and loving them as your own. Kenny chose to be their dad when he didn’t have to be, and once he made that choice, he stayed. Through childhood, the difficult years, the growing pains, and into adulthood, he was there. To Brittney and Jonathan, there was never a need for another word or explanation. He was simply Dad. Kenny was also a father-in-law to Chris and a proud Pepaw to his grandsons, Brandon and Caige. His family was his legacy, and the love and influence he had on their lives will continue long after his passing.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Annie Martinez; daughter, Brittney Segrest; son, Jonathan Ruiz, and his wife, Crystal Ruiz; grandson, Caige Segrest; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will carry memories of him with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Leroy Henderson Sr. and Kathrynn (Shuff) Henderson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carlos and Clara Martinez; his son-in-law, Christopher Frank Segrest; and his grandson, Brandon Scott Ruiz.
Kenny leaves behind more than a name or a collection of dates. He leaves behind a family he spent decades helping build. He leaves behind stories that will be told again and again, lessons that will reveal their meaning more clearly with time, familiar sayings, and those unmistakable looks that no one else could ever quite replicate. He leaves behind a lifetime of ordinary moments that, together, became something deeply extraordinary. His absence will be felt in the quiet spaces of everyday life—in the way he showed up without needing to be asked, in the steady presence that anchored his family, and even in the looks that could say more than words ever could. Life will never be quite the same without him, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain a lasting part of those he leaves behind. After a long and difficult journey, there is comfort in knowing that his suffering is over and that he is at peace. His family entrusts him into God’s loving care and holds firmly to His promise: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4 Rest peacefully, Kenny. Husband, Dad, Pepaw—loved deeply, missed profoundly, and remembered always.
