Obituary

Kerry Dean Jones was born November 10, 1951, in Las Animas, Colorado, to Tyrena and Charles Jones. Kerry was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 23, 2026.

Kerry leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Jones; his son, Dak Jones, and wife, Cory Jones; and his precious granddaughters, Bailey Shay Jones and Brooke Jones.

He is also survived by his brothers Larry Jones and his wife, Belinda, Charles Jones, and Art Jones, his sister, Wendy Atterberry, and her husband, Mike; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Grady; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gary and Wendy Grady, Andy and Joanie Grady, and Mickey and Sherry Grady; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Tyrena and Charles Jones; his brother, Dale Ray Jones; his sister-in-law, LaDonna Jones; and his father-in-law, Donald Grady.

Anyone who knew Kerry will remember him for his unmistakable cheesy grin, his contagious laughter, and his endless supply of jokes. Kerry was a real-life cowboy through and through. He loved horses, the cowboy way of life, his blue jeans and boots, and everything that came with being in the saddle. He had a natural way with horses and a love for the cowboy life that was simply part of who he was.

Kerry was a man who could make you laugh without even trying. He was known for his easygoing nature and—perhaps most famously—his extremely slow driving. If you ever rode with Kerry, you knew there was absolutely no reason to be in a hurry. He did things his own way, at his own pace, and that was simply Kerry.

Above all, Kerry was a man of faith who loved God deeply. His faith guided his life, strengthened him through every season, and was reflected in the kindness, love, giving spirit, and joy he shared with others. He was also a family man whose greatest joy was the people he loved. His presence, laughter, stories, faith, and unmistakable grin will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

His memory will live on through his wife, son, granddaughters, siblings, extended family, and the many lives he touched throughout the years.

Kerry may be gone from our sight, but the things we remember most about him will remain with us forever.
