Obituary

Larry Dale Mooneyham, aged 77, passed peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness on September 10, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri. He grew up in Republic, Missouri and attended Republic High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1968 and was the recipient of a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart from his time in Vietnam. He was 100% service- connected disabled veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Vincent Mooneyham, his mother Thelma Haworth Mooneyham, his aunt Imogene Haworth Pruitt, and siblings, Connie Mooneyham Barton, Kenny Mooneyham, Gary Mooneyham, Steve Mooneyham, Lonnie Mooneyham, and Rosetta Schmidt.

He was also survived by his stepchildren, Schrea Crawford Moorhouse (Dee), John C. Shields V, Matthew Shields (Jill), grandchildren, Brookes Holloway Fincher (Blake), Austin Holloway, John Shields VI, Fiona Shields, Olivia Shields, Andrew Shields, Keaton Shields, and Dylan Shields as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by Harold Kenneth Mooneyham (father) and Ethan Shields (grandson).

A visitation and celebration of life will be held September 21, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Hood Methodist Church, 139 N. Walnut, Republic, MO 65738. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas at a date to be determined in December.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Wounded Warriors.
